Guilds &/or Special Interest Groups: Tres Trepei entered two songs in the Kingdom A&S competition, and received a 1st and a 2nd place.
Kathleen and Ryan both participate in the Silver Thimble Guild.
Personal Projects:
Jonathon the Osprey went in as a special guest to a fifth grade class at the Lab School (at U. of Chi). He taught an hour and a half class, showing the kids how to play a toss penny game, had them help put his armor on and take a swing at his head with a rattan sword, answered questions from the class which ranged from possible torture methods to women's history, and taught them the Hermits Bransle.
Constance Grey, ever doing more embroidery, made a comparison of some natural dyes I did to DMC, Anchor and Caron colors, then included this in an Advanced Embroidery class which she taught at RUM. She also made flashy "summer weight" capes for Midrealm Regalia, and organized (and did most of the work) of our shire’s donation to the Crown of: game boards, finger puppets, purses, notebooks, photo albums & pillows = 90 items total. She is currently doing "pre-pennsic" sewing sessions with Gargoyles campers.
Trystian, Henry Warnok and Jonathon got together and laid up 10 gallons of mead to ferment.
In addition to entering several things in regional A&S, Bojegei racked wine, finished her lamellar armor, tried out one of the medieval chinese recipes in La Petit Propos, hosted a horde & did all the cooking for the weekend (40+ people), and continues to research all things Mongolian.
Ryan continues brewing, blackwork and beading, dancing and playing music.
Andra continues her Flemish research, and is practicing the recorder. She was going to teach a class on 16th century music ornamentation at RUM, but broke her foot and couldn’t go.
Mary McIntosh continues practicing the harp. She is also working as assistant regional MoAS, and at Kingdom A&S she judged stringed instrument and two write-in categories.
Mary and I attempted to make a lily of the valley scented oil, but the flowers left no scent. (We were both too busy with our mundane lives to continue adding more flowers while they were in bloom.) We also made
some herbal cordials using herbs from my garden.
As for myself, Tres Trepei sang at A&S, I judged several things at Kingdom A&S, and also did music at Jubilee Faire. Baby Curtis occupies most of my time (and some of his dad’s time as well).
Svein finished his leather shoes, sang with Tres Trepei, judged at Kingdom, and played cornetto at Jubilee. He is now working on linen underwear.
People to watch:
Praises/Problems: Jonathon the Osprey redid our email to a new site, and has areas for people to put their interests and activities. Should make reporting easier for all our officers.
